Service
In addition to my extensive dedication to research and teaching, I am equally committed to service and increasing diversity both at the macro level—working in various campus and departmental committees to address diversity recruitment issues and participating in campus-wide events that strive to increase diversity in higher education—and at the micro level—mentoring underrepresented students by giving them the opportunity to be research assistants and acting as a faculty advisor to the Salvadoran Student Union.
I am committed to increasing diversity within our discipline. I have actively participated in the American Political Science Association’s Women of Color in Political Science Workshops, the Latino Caucus, and more recently, I participated in APSA's Presidential Task Force on Women’s Advancement Diversity and Inclusion Hackathon. The goal of this team is to identify concrete and sustainable strategies for recruiting and retaining a diverse political science faculty.
I hope to continue to work towards making higher education more representative of the communities it represents in my research, teaching, and service.
